CoolTrayIcon

CoolTrayIcon is a programming toolkit developed specifically for helping you implement tray icons with lots of appearance customization options and predefined actions in your own software applications.

It can be deployed on all Windows flavors out there. You need to have Delphi 5 or a higher version installed on the target computer in order to make the most out of the utility’s capabilities.

The components, libraries, and executable file are delivered in a ZIP package that can be saved to the preferred location on the disk. The executable file is portable so you can open it without having to go through an installation process. You may keep it stored on pen drives or other portable devices and carry it with you.

CoolTrayIcon comes bundled with eight examples included in the package. One of them is called TextTrayIcon and offers you the possibility to reveal a tray icon with a user-defined text message. Some of the supported configuration parameters are related to the font and color of the text, icon or background color selection, and borders.

The executable file comprised in the ZIP bundle allows you to show a custom hint, which is displayed when you move the mouse cursor over the tray icon, reveal or conceal the hint, enable popup menu (it appears when the icon is clicked), and minimize forms and hide them in the system tray.

You are given the freedom to animate the tray icon by cycling through all the icons stored in the list, choose between several cycle icon types (e.g. graph, icon flash, radar, globe, eyes), show balloon hints, and reveal or hide the tray and taskbar icon.

Other important options worth being mentioned enable you to set focus to the tray icon (if visible), return the tooltip handle, replace the cursor’s position inside the tray icon, as well as set up events on simple or double clicks, mouse movement, and up or down mouse actions.
