Python Connector for InterBase

InterBase offers a scalable database working environment, which can provide a variety of features and elements pertaining to security, instant disaster recovery, as well as data synchronization. This relational database management system, marketed by Embarcadero Technologies is known for having a minimal footprint and little administration requirements.

However, when wanting to perform data synchronization with other databases or development working environments, users need to rely on specialized connector-apps. One such app is Python Connector for InterBase, which was designed targeting InterBase databases.

This library was designed specifically in order to offer users the means to achieve connectivity between their Python-based applications and InterBase databases, via a direct connection. This library comes equipped with the Python DB API 2.0 specification and is deployed for both 32 and 64-bit systems.

The library targets a range of Pyhon installations, being compatible with versions ranging from 3.7 to 3.12 and the same goes for the database counterpart. InterBase versions 4.2 or later are being supported, in various editions, such as Developer, Embedded IBLite, Embedded IBToGo, Desktop, as well as Server.

However, users must be aware that for InterBase 4.2 they will require a separate, UDF container for the RTRIM function in order to achieve a proper deployment.
