StdUtils for NSIS

NSIS (Nullsoft Scriptable Install System) users who rely on its capabilities for creating Windows installers will most likely, at some point, need the functionality of plugins that offer extra features, for achieving various, specific tasks in the installer development framework.

Built in order to supply extra functionality as a plugin, StdUtils will offer NSIS users access to a range of standard functions that originate in the C Standard Library, which can be deployed when dealing with C or C++ coding, as such components aren’t readily available in NSIS by default.

The plugin is independent of users’ installations of both Visual C++ Runtime v6.0 and C++ Runtime, and it can function without being linked to the aforementioned libraries.

The main area of expertise that the plugin addresses refers to functions that deal with strings and their formatting, involving operations such as trimming of whitespaces, name validations, and much more. The plugin facilitates access to pre-defined commands that have been bundled within the installers’ CLIs.

Other operations, such as file handling for copying and moving data, or appending the content of certain files to others can be performed when using the plugin in conjuncture with the Windows Shell.
