Rancher Desktop is an application that lets you easily manage containers by building, pushing, pulling, and running images using the same runtime as Kubernetes. This means you can quickly use the created images for your local work without any hassle.

The program provides convenient container management capabilities, allowing you to build, push, and pull container images, as well as run containers using the same container runtime as Kubernetes. Once you create container images, you can use them right away for your local work without the need to transfer or duplicate them.

As far as the configuration is concerned, the tool packs a user-friendly interface for management. You have options to select the desired Kubernetes version, the runtime container and configure the desired system resources for running them. On a side note, the configuration of the system resources is available for Mac and Linux for now.

Besides container setup and management, the app also includes port forwarding and integration with Docker CLI. While the first lets you access and test applications running in containers conveniently, the latter entails that you can use other tools such as nerdctl or the Docker CLI.

Lastly, the tool includes a Diagnostic tool that checks for potential errors and mistakes in your apps and environments. If things don’t seem to look good, you can check for missing requirements, misconfiguration or other issues that affect functionality.
