Batch IDE

Programmers can resort to a wide range of IDE tools with rich features for editing source code in a multitude of languages. However, if you're looking for a simple file editor for that supports just a couple of filetypes, specifically .bat and .cmd, you can turn to Batch IDE.

This application is wrapped in a clean and intuitive interface, coming packed with only the necessary and sufficient options for helping you create, edit and save batch and command files.

Besides the fact that .NET Framework must enabled on the computer, installation is not required. This means that you can keep Batch IDE stored in your collection of portable software and fire it up whenever you need to edit files. Otherwise, you can save it to a USB flash drive and easily move it between your PCs.

Adopting a dark theme, the interface of Batch IDE is comfortable to work with, especially if you're a night owl. It has simple lines and four menus in the topbar, dedicated to file, editing, debug and help operations.

You can get started by opening a .bat or .cmd file, either by using the built-in file browser or by dragging and dropping the items. Syntax highlights are supported, so you can quickly spot blocks of code. After making the necessary code modifications, you can overwrite the original file or create a new one.

Options are available for finding and replacing text (without advanced filters), changing font settings, as well as running the project and stopping runtime. Keyboard shortcuts are supported.

As you can see, the application is rather simple. In its defense, it has been only recently released, so more features are expected in future releases. Even so, Batch IDE is a breeze to work with for quick and simple code editing operations.
