An abundance of lines of code are responsible for making programs and web pages properly deliver content to you. There are various programming languages to use in your projects. For instance, DevBasic comes as a powerful development environment for the Quick Basic language.

Note that the application doesn’t even need to be installed in order to function, which means it’s good to go as soon as download is done. What’s more, it can easily be carried around on a thumb drive in case you want to work on your projects on other computers. Registry entries are not modified in the process, and so the stability of the target PC is not affected.

You start off in a blank workspace. New projects can be created, and there’s also a wizard to help you easily pick the type of project you want to create, such as library, script, sprite, interface, or package. Unfortunately, not all of them seem to properly function, if they even manage to load in the first place.

However, simple code writing can be easily accomplished. Syntax highlighting makes the workspace pretty comfortable, letting you quickly identify functions and variables. Moreover, a side panel lets you instantly add snippets to minimize the chances of typos which eventually lead to bugs or launch failure in your projects.

File support is limited to DBP, DPK, and BAS, which are available for both import and export. There’s also a run tool which can put your code to the test. Moreover, the application also comes with a compiler, but there’s also the possibility to add an external one.

All things considered, we can state that DevBasic offers a neat workspace in which to build Quick Basic projects, with a lot of help from the preset library of snippets. However, it’s heavily unpolished overall, with a variety of tools and features which either end up in error or don’t start at all.
