Elegant is a lightweight utility that can serve as a good alternative to feature-packed code editors that might be too much to handle. It supports a decent number of programming languages and features a novice-friendly UI.

The installation process is as straightforward as you can expect, and you don’t need to configure anything before using the program. Since the UI has a simple layout, you shouldn’t need any instructions either.

As you may have noticed from the screenshots, the application allows you to work with multiple tabs. However, you cannot save your sessions and continue working with the same tabs at a later date.

Of course, you have to remember that Elegant was designed to provide users with a simpler alternative to complex code editors. As a result, it lacks some advanced features, but it can still get the job done.

As far as language support goes, the application lets you work with quite a few of them, including C#, HTML, JavaScript and SQL. You can select the preferred language to enable syntax highlighting.

The user interface has an intuitive layout which first-time users should find to be very accessible. Unfortunately, though, you cannot customize its appearance in any way, and the dimensions of the window are not remembered when restarting the application.

In short, Elegant is a well-designed utility for users who want a simpler way to write code. It supports a fair number of languages and sports a clean, minimalistic UI that you can get the hang of in seconds.
