As the name suggests, Kantharos IDE is an integrated development that was designed to simplify the work of PHP programmers in applications development.

After a quick and uneventful setup, you come face to face with a clear, organized and user-friendly interface. The UI is quite easy to understand, especially since it includes a small, but appealing toolbar with high responsiveness from which you can access most of the functions.

The utility provides you with a flexible environment where you can simply write your code and although it is an IDE, it does not come with templates. You should know that the application also enables you to open existing PHP codes in order to edit it or compile it.

Then again, it includes code highlighting, PHP syntax check and that most of the interface is dedicated to the actual code writing process, features that make it more suitable for advanced users.

Regardless of whether you are editing or writing your code, it is necessary to mention that the program allows you to test the script and make sure the parameters are correct. In case you are accessing the Verify function, then the app opens an additional panel where you can check out possible bugs and errors associated with the script.

As far as the editing options are concerned, the application is relatively limited as they can be summarized to search, replace and auto indent. It would have been useful if the tool permitted text dragging, copy to clipboard, formatting options and if it could support more programming languages.

While it lacks templates, snippets and more advanced testing functions, Kantharos IDE provides you with a flexible environment where you can write and run your PHP code script.
