Fluent Terminal

It may sound a bit silly to the average user, but in the right hands, the command line is a lot faster than using various GUI-based apps. Not only this, but command line provides greater control over the system’s functions, which is also something extremely valued by developers.

When it comes to Terminal emulators for Windows, the options can seem endless. However, there are few apps of this sort out there that are as stylish and as configurable as this UWP-based terminal emulator called Fluent Terminal.

It’s designed to work with PowerShell, CMD, WSL, and a great number of other custom shells. It has built-in support for both Mosh and SSH connections. It allows developers to configure shell profiles and quickly switch between them, and it boasts support for multiple tabs and windows, as well as various themes (which can also be imported and exported).

This is pretty much the point where Fluent Terminal sets itself apart from other similar apps. Once users make their way into the Settings section, it will instantly make sense why that is. Besides having the option to integrate itself with Window’s context menu, the app may just be the most user-friendly and highly configurable utility of this sort.

Users are provided with various language options, and the app can be configured to run at system startup, to be present in the system tray. What’s more, new terminal instances can be launched either in new tabs or new windows (the tabs can be positioned either at the top or at the bottom of the main window.

Literally everything one can think about can be configured from the Settings section. This includes fonts, font size, background opacity, padding, the scrollback limit, keybindings, mouse gestures and, of course, the themes.

Fluent Terminal is definitely one of the best Terminal emulators out there and, considering it’s built using UWP and web technologies, it looks right at home on Windows 10.
