A lightweight, open-source, and super-flexible tool that acts as a GitHub interface and can be opened from your Windows terminal. #GitHub GUI #GitHub Client #GitHub Interface #GitHub #GUI #Interface
Gitui is a flexible and free option for GitHub users who need a proper user interface. The tool is especially suitable for those who like to use the command-line, as Gitui integrates perfectly with your cmd.
Gitui is similar to many GitHub clients out there. Being the top software hosting and version control provider, GitHub is indispensable to developers and companies who create software products. As a consequence, you need a comprehensive, fast, and flexible interface that allows you to handle your processes easier and in the quickest possible manner.
Gitui is free of cost and a multi-platform app — it runs on Windows OS, macOS, and Linux. Also, this tool is a command-line utility. This means that you don't need to do many configuration workarounds or other things to make it work. After a super-simple installation process, you should open your favorite command-line utility and initiate the program using the gitui.exe command, inside of a non-bare git repository (your main work environment that includes both the git index and the checked-out copies of your working files).
With this program, you should expect to be able to navigate repositories, inspect elements, commit changes, plus stage, unstage, revert, or push data. All of these activities can be conducted in the most elegant manner, without having to leave the keyboard.
The app is for keyboard-only users and offers context-based shortcuts and keybinds. What does this mean? Well, you don't need to memorize a set of predefined key combinations. There is an intrinsic logic behind every shortcut, and you can easily access your options using the H key; this stands for 'help' and will display all your options for the current menu/place you are at.
The application seems to be super useful for open-source fans and users who like customizable setups. At the same time, you should expect a fairly good performance that implies no freezes, no crashes, and fast task execution.
