Resources are usually identified by a GUIDs or UUIDs, which are acronyms for 'Globally Unique Identifier' and 'Universally Unique Identifier', respectively. These IDs are nothing more than 128-bit integers, sequences of alphanumeric characters that can be assigned to a resource, be it software, hardware, interfaces, databases, accounts, or other items. For instance, the MAC address is an identifier. The probability that they are repeated is not zero but negligible and that is why they are considered to be unique.

There are multiple types of GUIDs and each is generated differently. Most developers or manufacturers prefer random identifiers and generating those requires either an online or an offline dedicated tool. If you prefer having an offline generator at your disposal at all times, then one of the applications you can choose is GuidScreener.

This lightweight application targets random GUIDs, leaving aside other types, such as time-based identifiers or numbers that require mapping hardware components to a GUID. With its help, you can create bulk sets of distinct identifiers, with or without preset digits. Please keep in mind that GuidScreener relies on the RFC4122 version with its variants to generate the IDs.

GuidScreener can use the system’s random number generator to output a single identifier in RFC 4122 format. It also comes with support for ISAAC RNG format.

It also features a more advanced randomizing engine that enables it to generate GUIDs that are more recognizable. To be more specific, you can preset any number of digits in the identifier to make It easier to remember or discern from others. This random number generator creates screened system GUIDs, displaying them all in a dedicated field, one above the other.
