While the idea of being a developer is highly glamorized nowadays, few are aware of the time and effort you need to put in to be good at it. If you are just getting started, then you can select a programming language and proceed to grasping the concepts.

Nodable is a tool that can help you at this point, as its aim is to make the learning process easier by combining both text and visuals in the form of nodal paradigms.

The interface is split into three main sections, namely the text editor, the nodal paradigm section and a third configuration and help tab. In the lower section, you have a log where you can review all actions taken. Take note that both text and visuals are interconnected and hence, any modifications in one will be reflected in the other.

From the learning perspective, having a visual of the code can help understand how it works, the main parts and how they all fit together. A direct advantage of this is that you can visualize the graphic representation of the code and, perhaps, it will help you catch errors more easily.

Essentially, you can experiment with concepts, parsers, compilations, AST, etc., you learn and view how they change the results. On a side note, the persistent state is the text code, so minor changes to the graphics – such as adding an orphan node – might not always be reflected in the text source code.

As the developer points out, this is not a production app, but rather a learning tool that can lend a hand with understanding programming concepts. It doesn’t handle more than one language at a time and frankly, it doesn’t have to as you should be focusing on one programming language at a time.
