PftEdit

PftEdit is a lightweight and portable tool designed to help you edit Palm fonts in a user-friendly workspace. It comes packed with approachable options that can be tackled even by those inexperienced with font editors.

The interface is user-friendly, represented by a large window with a neatly structured layout, where you can open Palm font files as well as create new ones from scratch to save with the .pft or .pdb extension.

It's possible to move images left, right, up or down, increase or decrease the font width, go to the previous, next, first or last character in the font, as well as cut, copy, paste and delete selections.

Plus, you can apply the bold, italic or underline effect, or reverse character images. The toolbar and status bar can be hidden from the main window. Lastly, PftEdit enables you to edit font information, such as font type, first and last character, height, width, ascent, descent, leading, and max kern.

It's not wrapped in an installation kit, so you can copy the downloaded files to a custom directory on the disk or to a removable storage unit, in order to seamlessly launch the program on any computer with minimum effort and no previous setup.

It doesn't add new entries to the system registry, or create files on the disk without your permission. The source code is also available in the downloaded package and can be studied by programmers or those interested in coding.

It remained stable throughout its runtime in our tests, without triggering the operating system to hang, crash or indicate errors. CPU and RAM consumption was minimal, so it didn't hamper the computer's performance.

To sum it up, PftEdit delivers a simple and straightforward solution for opening, editing and saving Palm fonts. It's free and can be easily handled by any kind of user.
