One thing you need to know about the application is that you can go ahead and check out the set of features from the moment the download process is done. This means you can carry it around on a USB flash drive to use on other computers as well, without having to worry that system registries get damaged.

The application can search on your computer according to some criteria you need to specify. These can be as simple as a file name or extension, string, case state, and several others. You might want to start off in the name and location section, where the name of the tab says it all. However, the application is set to look in Delphi resources by default, which might lead to the lack of results if looking for regular files.

On the other hand, this can provide more comfort for developers trying to locate specific project related files. Unfortunately, the process itself isn’t quite tweaked, and beside the poor identification rate, it can also take some time to finish searching, especially if you decide to look in subfolders as well. What’s more, there’s no option to build an index for faster processing later on.

Another option is to perform search based on strings. This can be done in several ways, either writing down the string of interest, loading a list of existing ones, and manually writing down more. You can use the Delphi resource option here as well, look up the whole word, and match casing. However, you need to know exactly what you’re looking for, because a single missing or misspelled word returns no result.

Taking everything into consideration, we can say that Turbo Find comes with good intentions, but is far from delivering the set of features you’re hoping to find in a search utility. Although it’s intended to find programming files, requirement fields are rather shallow, detection ratio poor, and takes a lot of time to finish the process.
