The JavaScript Object Notation (JSON) format came with an array of advantages and its widespread use in web application data transmission has meant that more diverse and varied means of interpretation and visualization were required. Common usages are, for instance, sending data from a client to a server, and vice-versa, and although its structure and syntax resemble that of JavaScript, it can be used independently of it, being featured in the readability capabilities of numerous programming environments.

fx aims to tackle JSON data interpretation, as it was designed as a command-line interface solution that doubles as both a visualizer and reducer for JSON data. The visualization role is carried out interactively, and the data can be inputted both as pipe, as well as parameter pass.

The application comes equipped with support for line-delimited, or concatenated JSON streaming, and users will be able to toggle a list of all the available commands and their corresponding syntax.

One must be aware though, that working with string data in fx is not permitted just as in a text editor, and, for instance, selecting text needs to be firstly instructed in the terminal for iterative tasks, using several key combinations, which are detailed here.
