SketchUp SDK is a useful package that includes all the necessary components, documentation and samples that developers will need in order to build SketchUp compatible apps.

The toolkit comes with SketchUp C API, which can be used for managing and editing data from SketchUp models. Also part of the SDK is SketchUp Importer/Exporter Interface, useful for implementing import and export capabilities inside SketchUp through dedicated modules.

SketchUp SDK comes in an archive that is of reasonable size, making it possible for you to move it around on various removable storage units such as CDs, DVDs, USB flash drives, external HDDs or SSDs and so on.

Once you unpack the archive, you'll notice various folders that contain the files needed to make the SDK work properly, but also some pieces of documentation letting you know how to get started quickly or migrate from other projects easily.

Among the contents you can find in the archive mentioned above there are the binaries of the SDK, the deprecated SDK, a folder with documentation files, a collection of headers and a bundle of samples that make it easy for you to test the capabilities of this development environment collection of tools.

What's new in SketchUp SDK 4:

  • Fixed compilation issues on Mac while building against the deprecated SketchupReader.framework. Updated the framework to be able to read 2013 files. Also added some files missing from deprecated/SkpWriter/Headers. (Sorry about these omissions).
  • Added back the old Mac example SkpStats (under deprecated\SkpReader\Examples) that illustrates how to read SU files from a stand-alone program (i.e. not as an exporter).
  • Added missing SU_ERROR_INVALID_OUTPUT return values to code documentation comments for slapi *GetName() functions and others that return string data.
