UWP OCR SDK

The Universal Windows Platform (or, in short, UWP) is an application development architecture that ensures compatibility between Windows 10, Windows 10 mobile, Hololens and XBox One. With support for C++, C#, VB.NET and XAML, it can be used with Visual Studio 2015 and later.

As UWP increases in popularity, more and more developers try to create UWP-compatible SDKs to quickly implement certain features without too much hassle and prolonged coding sessions. That is also the case with UWP OCR SDK.

As you might have figured out by reading its name, UWP OCR SDK is a software development kit designed to add OCR functionality to applications created using te UWP platform. In other words, with the help of this SDK, scanned documents can be transformed into editable UTF8 text.

The SDK comes with support for a large number of languages, which makes it versatile and flexible. Moreover, it allows the processing of specific sections of a scanned image, but it can also process entire pages.

For those who want to take it for a "drive", know that the package comes with a sample code in C#, compiled in Visual Studio 2015. You have to rebuild the project following the instructions in the "Help" file and you will be able to experiment with the OCR technology.
