AllyCAD Home Edition

It's been a long time since building design and construction started off with a pencil, paper, and a few rulers. Nowadays, computers do that hundreds of times faster and more efficient, allowing for ever greater feats of construction to happen every day. AllyCAD Home Edition is one such computer program that provides all the tools an engineer or general 3D designer may need.

Of all the CAD-type programs, AllyCAD Home Edition may not be the most extensive or feature-full, but the few tools it does manage to provide more than compensate for this slight oversight. The DX rendering engine that utilizes the graphics card for much faster redraws has been enhanced for even faster redraws, improved 3D rendering, and view manipulation.

There are many features offered by this program, such as DX rendering engine for fast 3D rendering & image manipulation, 3D and lightweight polylines, blocks, Xrefs, multiline text and 3D functionality, meshes, faces, solid shapes & rendering. Unlike other CAD programs that may require installing (and purchasing) additional toolkits, this program comes with specialized toolkits have been designed to speed up essential but time-consuming tasks relevant to the various CAD disciplines.

AllyCAD can create 3D mesh surfaces from a profile path. Using this function to draw a simple wine glass can be achieved by drawing its profile in front view using a polyline as shown. Another interesting feature added in more recent updates is the Extruded Surface feature. This allows you to generate a 3D render of your drawing for visual aid or presentation purposes in a simple step.

AllyCAD Home Edition may not be as famous as other similar software programs, but it deserves a shot considering the wide range of tools it provides.
