ECW (Expression Calculator for Windows) is an advanced mathematical calculator that enables you to create custom variables and functions. It offers support for multiple display modes.

Installing it takes minimal time and effort. There are no special options, software requirements, or third-party offers bundled with the setup kit.

The interface doesn't look impressive, since ECW prefers to focus on features. It has a simple dialog box dedicated to typing math expressions, showing results in real time. These can be copied to the Clipboard in decimal, hexadecimal, binary, octal or exponential format.

As far as configuration settings are concerned, you can add new functions or variable declaration, along with expressions with declared arguments that can be taken into account by the program for quick calculations. Several presets are lined up, such as sinD(x) equals sin(rad(x)), or inf equals 1e4932. Entries can be edited, deleted and re-arranged in this list.

Expression Calculator for Windows lets you choose the decimal and list separators, allow multiple instances, disable real-time calculations, hide the error status, or make the frame stay on top of other windows. It can show decimal results without trailing zeros and always treat hexadecimal, binary or octal strings as unsigned numbers.

Help documentation is available with details about constants and operators, together with trigonometric, hyperbolic and statistical functions, among others.

It calculated data rapidly in our tests while remaining light on system resources consumption, thanks to the fact that it needed low CPU and RAM. No error dialogs popped up and it didn't hang or crash.

To sum it up, ECW facilitates a simple interface and comprehensive options for performing scientific calculations. However, it's not geared toward beginners.
