Get your head around complicated math expressions by simply writing them down using different operators and generating the result at the press of a button #Basic calculator #Math calculator #Operation parser #Calculator #Calculate #Addition
Various mathematical expressions can be solved without the use of a calculator, but it can be pretty complicated, time-consuming, and prone to errors. Using a calculator isn’t cheating, and even Windows provides quite an advanced tool in this regard. There are also third-party alternatives at your disposal, with ELIAS being a suitable example here.
On the bright side of things, you’re not taken through an installer to make the application work, so you can use it directly from a USB flash drive if you decide to carry it around. Moreover, it relies on Java Runtime Environment to function, meaning it’s capable of running on other operating systems than Windows.
The interface consists of several panels, and includes all necessary functions and fields to help you from start to end. A numerical pad holds all values, as well as an associated list of operators. You’re also free to write expressions through the keyboard, but pay attention to input, because there’s no character restriction, and you can end up with faulty input of source expressions.
One of its core features is its processing power, meaning you’re able to perform calculus on pretty large numbers. Result is displayed at the press of a button, and you can easily copy it to clipboard. The results field is editable, letting you add any extra info in both the form of numbers and alphabetical characters.
Sadly, the list of operators isn’t really abundant, without a counterpart for advanced calculus. As such, you only get to use standard operators like add, subtract, multiply, divide, power, as well as combined expressions through the use of parenthesis.
Taking everything into consideration, we can state that ELIAS is but a simple method of calculating math expressions composed of large numbers. The list of operators is rather poor, while the results sheet only holds the last item, without options to save to file.
