FSTAT

FSTAT is a specialized tool that is especially addressing scientists that work with gene diversities and differentiation statistics. As you would expect, the tool packs both Nei and Weir and Cockerham families of estimators of gene diversities and F-statistics, and tests them using randomisation methods. The app can also calculate the Hamilton's relatedness estimator.

The app enables you to calculate data per sample and loci and can save you a lot of time when trying to estimate Allele frequencies, number of individuals, expected and observed values for each genotype, fis and whether it is positive or negative as well as allelic richness. At the same time, you have multiple confidence intervals statistics, including jackknifing, bootstrapping, R-statistics and fst estimations or HW equilibrium.

The tool is portable and lightweight, which is a strong point given its role and that it’s likely you already have large datasets on the drives. The interface is quite intuitive and you can get started by adding your database file, as otherwise none of the buttons or tests are active in the interface. Afterwards, you can proceed to further define your groups and select the desired tests for your sample before hitting the Run button.
