SolveDiffEq

Developed for math students and teachers alike, SolveDiffEq is a small-sized and portable software application that provides you with several simple options for swiftly solving differential equations and calculating definite integrals.

Since there is no installation involved, you can save the app directory in any part of the disk and just click the executable to launch SolveDiffEq. Another possibility is to copy it to a USB storage unit (like a pen drive) to be able to directly run it on any PC with minimum effort. More importantly, it doesn't modify Windows registry settings.

The user-friendly GUI consists of a basic window with a clear-cut structure that doesn't put emphasis on looks. You can enter a function array to compile, set the initial x values, as well as indicate the size, start, stop and delta times, along with the number of steps to skip.

Results can be printed or saved to file for closer examination and safekeeping. It's possible to undo your actions, copy, paste and delete data, as well as to view, edit, compile or restore the output script. There are no other noteworthy options provided by this program.

As expected, the app left a small footprint on system resources usage in our tests, so it didn't hog CPU and RAM. It performed calculations rapidly without causing the OS to hang, crash or display error messages. Although its interface could use a facelift, SolveDiffEq gets the job done and can be handled with ease by anyone looking to solve differential equations and definite integrals.
