Sonnet Lite

Studying and addressing the behavior of circuits and antennae when it comes to high-frequency electromagnetic fields can require significant approaches in terms of logistics the visualization of the involved materials and the behavior of their corresponding parameters. Sonnet Lite addresses such requirements.

This specialized application was designed specifically in order to provide users with the proper means to investigate and analyze the design of planar, 3D planar circuits, as well as antennae, in the context of the characteristics of high-frequency electromagnetic fields.

The scope and intended purpose of the software applies mostly to planar circuits that include microstrips, striplines, coplanar waveguides, PCBs, as well as vias combinations, vertical metal sheets, and a variety of layers of metal traces that are found embedded into stratified dielectric materials.

RF models can be derived using Sonnet Lite, involving the S, Y, and Z parameters, or the SPICE model), for both planar circuits, as well as antennae. The software will require physical descriptions of the circuits and will employ a rigorous Method-of-Moments EM analysis, which is based on Maxwell’s equations, including parasitic, cross-coupling, enclosure, as well as package resonance effects.

Last but not least, reduced-size edge-coupled microstrip bandpass filters are also addressed.
