Weights on Lever Simulator

Studying Newtonian mechanics and related aspects can involve looking at weights on a lever, and beam balance or imbalance can provide notions such as the law of the lever, which states that the product of the weight and its distance to the hinge point should be equal to the product of the other weight and its distance from the hinge point. Build on addressing questions pertaining to different masses on a lever, Weights on Lever Simulator, will provide you with means to tackle such aspects.

This application was designed specifically in order to provide you with means to simulate the behavior of a type I lever when two weights with different masses are dropped from different heights on its arms.

The main working principle behind the app revolves around inputting the required parameters and their corresponding values for each of the two bodies: mass and height. This can be done using the provided, on-screen sliders, and previewed numerically once these have been set.

The application will then render a graphical representation of the resulting mass balance or imbalance, complete with corresponding values for the PE, as well as a demonstration of the lever momentum, substantiated through basic comparison formulae.
