Different simulation programs are now used to tell the success rate of a project before it’s put in motion. Energy also benefits from this particular feature, with services like EnergyPlus used in this regard. However, if you simply want to analyze data created with EnergyPlus, then xEsoView is exactly what you need.

Stored in a classic window frame, all the application has to offer can be accessed, and understood in a short time, and with little effort. The target files here are ESO, and XESO, the main output types of EnergyPlus simulations. You can either drop them over the main window, or use the browse dialog in this regard. There’s the possibility to work with more files at a time, each shown in its own window.

Results are shown in a visually appealing chart, with comprehensive data layout, and different colors used for easy identification of different values. In this regard, you can toggle visibility for maximum and minimum values, markers, grid, custom filters, file info, variable info, and variable list. Moreover, maximum and minimum values, as well as the marker color settings can be changed from the options panel.

Editing is not included in the set of features, but you can copy the graphic itself, variable data with the possibility to include time, file information, and variable info. The application allows you to save bookmarks of info fields of interest, with a dedicated drop-down menu which lets you quickly jump to any saved slot.

Apart from copying different info fields to clipboard, there are also several export options to use. In case you’re working on a ESO file, you can save it as XESO. The graph can be printed out on a sheet of paper, or bundled inside a PDF document.

XEsoView is a practical application which allows you to analyze EnergyPlus simulations in an intuitive environment. You can easily toggle visibility of specific fields, and configure color options for better identification. When done, data can either be sent to clipboard, or exported under several different formats.
