Luckily, ycasd is a specialized application which can help you define and read just about any kind of graph on screen.

One first note is that the application comes in a pretty lightweight package which doesn’t even require installation to function. This means that you can store it on a USB flash drive in case you want to use it on other computers. You don’t have to worry about the health status of the target PC, because registry entries are not affected during runtime.

In terms of visual style, the application is straightforward, but this simplicity helps you quickly get the hang of things. It might be a little difficult to get a solid grip on how things work at first, so let’s break it down in a few steps.

Your core input is defined by an axis system you need to build on the screen. This is done by providing the minimum and maximum values of X and Y coordinates, then actually clicking them on screen while capturing is activated so the application can lock onto them.

Once the coordinate system is defined, you can find values in any graph by simply clicking the point of interest, with the values instantly displayed in the output section. This can be done with anything on screen, such as pictures, slideshows, or web pages. Be careful not to make any changes inside the defined area for maximum accuracy.

In case you don’t exactly want to define a region or you want to use the entire display as the graph you can simply log the y-axis. Data can’t be saved to file directly, but you can copy it to clipboard. Output is either shown as Matlab or R format, with a value field to define accuracy.
