A lightweight and intuitive application that can encrypt plain texts, enabling you to send secure messages to your friends and protect your privacy. #Encrypt text #Text encryption #Text decryption #Encryption #Encrypt #Cipher
Encryption is a common method of securing messages long before the computer came to power. Individuals developed ingenious methods to replace characters so a message cannot be normally read. If security is of concern, then Caesar Crypto Module can help make the text unreadable by encrypting it with a solid algorithm.
On the one hand, you can run the application as soon as download is done, because there’s no setup involved. This allows it to be easily carried around on a thumb drive to have a method of encrypting and decrypting text messages regardless of the computer you’re using.
All the application has to offer is found in a slim, simple interface which poses no accommodation problems whatsoever. The state of the operation is toggled, so the arrangement of elements in the interface doesn’t change, even if you decrypt, or encrypt. There’s an input field, as well as the output field where scrambled text is instantly shown.
A little time spent with the application makes you realize it’s not really what you expect to find. This is mostly because it relies on a common cipher to encrypt text, and if someone else knows the key decoding the text doesn’t even require any processing from the application.
The cipher works by replacing a specific character in the alphabet with an offset from the same set, where the offset value represents the key. This means that possibilities range from 1-25, because 26 is the value where the alphabet starts over, since character casing is not a criteria, and the application doesn’t support numerical characters or symbols.
Bottom line is that with the abundance of encryption algorithms available as computer applications, Caesar Crypto Module uses the easiest one, but also the one with the least security value. Knowing the cipher key is all it takes to decrypt the text, and with character limitations even brute forcing, or trying out different keys is an easy way to crack encrypted text.
