Encrypt one file at a time using various algorithms, such as Blowfish, Serpent, Twofish or Cast256, in order to keep your data safe from tampering #Encrypt file #File encryption #File encryptor #Encrypt #Encryption #Encryptor
Even if you’re not connected to the Internet all the times, it doesn’t mean files are completely safe. In case you want to make sure nobody has access to a particular set of files on your computer, you might want to add extra protection by encrypting with one of several strong algorithms put at your disposal by DPCRYPT.
On the visual side of things, the application comes with a minimalistic interface, with several fields that need to be filled in accordingly for encryption to be successful. Any file can be a target, but not more at once, because batch processing is not supported. A way to bypass this is to archive all of them and then apply encryption.
You can either use the built-in browse dialog to select files, or simply drag them over the main window. By default, the output is the same as the source, but it can easily be modified. Regardless of the algorithm you pick, a password needs to be added, with a small field showing key size.
It would have been useful to see an integrated password generator, but this meant you had to keep it safe somewhere, since it’s rather impossible to remember a random string of characters. In any case, there is an impressive list of different algorithms to choose from, such as 3DES, Blowfish, Cast256, Mars, RC6, Rijndael, Serpent, and Twofish.
Encryption is applied immediately, with the reverse process being done in the same manner. In this regard, it’s a pity there’s no context menu integration for faster encryption. The application can build a self-extracting file to decrypt files anywhere, without having to install the application. It uses all specified techniques, with a small prompt asking for the decryption password.
All things considered, we can safely state that DPCRYPT is a powerful security solution that’s sure to keep important files safe. Multiple algorithms are at your disposal for more variety, with the possibility to create a SFX file that’s easier to carry around. The process only takes a little while, and is intuitive enough to be used even by inexperienced individuals.
