Portable Text Encryption

Today’s messaging applications have security-related tools to help you safely deliver a message without risking it to be intercepted without consent. However, there might be occasions when you need to encrypt a text to share a message securely and that is where an application such as Portable Text Encryption can help.

Portable Text Encryption is nothing but a tool that can encrypt plain text. As its name suggests, it is portable, meaning it does not require installation and it can be used on the go, without leaving traces on the host computer. As a side note, there is also an installer-based executable available for download.

The main window of the application bundles all the tools and options you need in a minimalistic design that is clearly focusing on functionality rather than looks. In fact, the appearance of the buttons and the entire GUI is quite outdated and overly simple.

Portable Text Encryption waits for you to paste or type in the text to encrypt. Once you are done, just hit the “Encrypt text” button to begin. You will be prompted to enter a password for the encryption, and, from the same dialog window, you are able to select the encryption algorithm to use. The default is AES 128, but you can also opt for AES 192, AES 256, DES or Blowfish.

Once the password is provided, the text is instantly encrypted. To ease your work, Portable Text Encryption allows you to quickly send the text to the clipboard or save the encrypted text to file.

There are no other options to deal with in Portable Text Encryption. Evidently, you can also decrypt text with Portable Text Encryption, text that has previously been encrypted with the same application, of course.

Portable Text Encryption allows the quick encryption of text pieces using various security algorithms. The application requires further improvements, but it works as promised and it allows you to encrypt a message in just a few seconds.
