It’s highly probable that once you leave your computer unattended, one of your colleagues attempts to pull a prank on you. This can also lead to data theft in some cases, but you can prevent this through simple operations such as locking the computer, and you can alternatively do this with Lock System.

You quickly go through the setup process, with the application launching right afterwards. A prompt shows up at first so you can set up the initial password. It can be changed at any given moment from the options menu. Be sure to remember the password, because it’s the only way to reach the desktop once the PC is locked.

As the name clearly suggests, the core function is to have your computer locked in order to prevent unauthorized access when you’re away. This is done by locking the desktop with a password on top of a blank screen, so the background is not visible. However, you can make the veil transparent for a somewhat cool effect.

When not locked, the application can be found in the form of a tray icon. However, the icon is not just for show, representing the only method through which to lock the computer by double-clicking it. From there you can also access the options menu if you want to change the password or make the background transparent.

The options menu also allows you to make it start with Windows, so that it’s ready by the time you reach the desktop. Unfortunately, the application does not offer entire protection, because it can be bypassed when accessing the task screen and opening up the Task Manager.

Taking everything into consideration, we can state that Lock System comes with good intentions, but it’s not really the tool to rely on to protect your stuff while you’re away. Security is imposed through a password, but the lock screen can be bypassed, having a major impact on overall practicality.
