Money Password

Money Password is a small software application whose purpose is to help you recover lost or forgotten passwords for MS Money files (MNY, MBF). The utility works with all MS Money versions and can be installed on all Windows flavors out there.

Passwords are instantly retrieved for MS Money files created with the 2011 version or an earlier edition. For MS Money 2002+ editions, you need to appeal to the tool’s advanced recovery algorithms.

Money Password employs a wizard as your personal assistant in order to offer you guidance throughout the entire configuration process. The utility also keeps an HTML log with all performed actions.

MBF or MNY files can be imported in the workspace using only the built-in browse button (the drag-and-drop support is not implemented).

Money Password is able to retrieve passwords with the aid of several modes, namely Brute Force Attack, Dictionary Attack, Smart Force Attack, and Password Variation.

The first method is developed specifically for helping you try every possible character combination as a password. It is the slowest one because it needs extra time in order to try on different combinations. You are allowed to specify the maximum length of the password and provide details about the character set and lowercase or uppercase characters.

The second option enables you to try on every word included in a dictionary as a password. The recovery process may be slow in case you work with a large dictionary.

Smart Force Attach is designed as the advanced version of Brute Force Attack for allowing you to recover passwords that consist only of letters. The last algorithm, so-called Password Variation, comes in handy in case the password is typed incorrectly and you remember how the password looks like but fail into recalling it in detail.
