WinShred Free can help you quickly and easily get rid of sensitive data stored on your computer, permanently deleting files and folders that you don't want others to access.

Once a file or a directory is erased with the help of this application, it is impossible to recover it, since its corresponding storage space on the hard drive is overwritten.

WinShred Free provides support for multiple overwriting methods, enabling you to choose the one you want it to use. It can overwrite data with zeros or random data, but you can also opt for a more advanced data destruction methods, such as DOD 3 pass or 7 pass. Alternatively, it can also make use of the 35-pass Gutmann algorithm, which is the strongest data sanitization standard it offers.

The interface has a simple look, which makes the application very easy to get accustomed with. Your only task is to browse for the files and directories you want it to delete, which are displayed within a structured table, along with their location and size.

In case you added a file or folder by accident, you can remove it from the list with just a click, using the dedicated button. Also, there is an option that enables you to clear the list and start over. Prior to deleting the files, WinShred Free prompts you for confirmation, in order to avoid accidental data loss.
