Most file sharing services, such as Google Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive and so on, create a dedicated folder on your computer, synchronizing data inside that directory to the cloud. This location is immediately available to anyone who accesses your computer. Designed to protect your privacy and your files, Hide Cloud Drive makes it possible for you to limit the access to the cloud sync folder of some of the most popular sharing services.

Hide Cloud Drive comes with support for Google Drive and Google Drive FS, Dropbox, OneDrive, Box and Amazon Drive, which makes it quite versatile. For each of these data sharing services, it enables you to restrict the access to the corresponding cloud sync folder. We are talking about the folder created and stored locally, not the one you can access via any web browser.

The cloud drive folder can be locked with just a few clicks, meaning access to its content is blocked, as described below.

There are two options you can choose from, namely to deny the access to the folder and, secondly, to make the location read-only. When the “Deny Access” checkbox is checked, the folder cannot be accessed. Both its desktop shortcut and its icon in the system tray disappear, which makes it impossible for others to access the drive. As you probably imagine, the “Read only” option imposes editing-related restrictions to the files inside the folder.

Hide Cloud Drive can act upon folders, applying its policy even if the user is logged on. There is an option you can use to prevent changes unless the user is logged off or the application is closed. Hide Cloud Drive can take action when the PC goes idle, just to be on the safe side of things. All the configuration options shown above can also be applied to the Desktop folder, My Documents and My Pictures as well.
