The setup is a straightforward process that does not require any special attention and you can get started right away by creating a profile. The application comes with a small interface that displays the current one time password needed to access certain data. Adding a new profile entails specifying a few details, more precisely, the name, secret value, number of digits, interval/period of display and HASH.

You can add and remove profiles as needed. If you change your mind and want to recover a deleted profile, you can do so via the backup feature. As you probably hinted, the profiles need to be saved first in order to be able to restore them later.

As previously mentioned, the interface displays the current one-time password, but you can also preview the last code and the next one as well. Moreover, you don’t have to bother with writing down or switching between windows to type it in, as it is copied automatically on click.

SecondFactor is a simple and straightforward program that you can easily set up and make sure that nobody can access the sensitive information on your PC. The tool can be a great addition especially for those who need to share their computer with their loved one, as the password can be set per profile and hence, you can simply deny access to certain data.

According to the developer, the profiles are stored in the Windows Registry, whereas the secret values for each are encrypted. It can be quite difficult to come across the password and access unauthorized data, unless you really know what you are doing.
