Backup4all Monitor

Backup4all Monitor helps you monitor all the backup, test, restore and cleanup tasks remotely and log the actions of Backup4all. You can use it to keep an eye on running backup jobs on remote machines that use Backup4all as their data backup solution.

Although you only interact with one of them, there are two components of Backup4all Monitor, namely the monitoring server and the dashboard. You, as the final user, use the dashboard to control and configure Backup4all Monitor, while the backup server is busy monitoring the incoming data.

The server works in the background, gathering all the data that the client computers send. It is worth mentioning that the server only gathers details about job actions. Moreover, keep in mind that the server can be installed on the local network or on a cloud server, such as a Amazon S3 or Azure.

When running Backup4all Monitor, you see the main dashboard, which allows you to start and stop realtime monitoring and view all the running backup jobs. However, for the server to work, you must first configure the client applications to allow remote monitoring. This is done via the Options window in Backup4all. All the necessary steps are provided in the documentation of the monitoring tool.

Backup4all Monitor displays information about the backup task, the name, type and its status. Whether it is a backup task, a test, a retore session or a cleanup job, it will be displayed in the main dashboard of Backup4all Monitor when active. Completed tasks are shown in the “History” tab, where you can see all the operations of Backup4all in a specific period.

Backup4all Monitor comes in handy to system and network administrators who need to keep a close eye on their workstations remotely and make sure that the tasks they configure in Backup4all are carried out successfully. In other words, it is a remote monitoring tool for Backup4all, a tool that works alongside the main application.
