Backing up your data is important, even if you think there's no chance of a data loss event occurring anytime soon. Things happen, and you lose all your data — you don't want to gamble with recovering them either, so being proactive can greatly help you in the long run.

You can create backups and manage them yourself, but that takes some work that could be handled by a dedicated tool. BackupIZ is a simple, practical backup utility through which one can back up their important data by zipping it, therefore also reducing its storage footprint.

The tool is very straightforward when it comes to helping you create and manage your backups. You can start off by heading into the Project tab, and selecting the source and target folders, which will be used for your backup. After doing so, you'll be able to go ahead with the backup process. All of this takes just a few inputs, and the app is usually rather quick with the zipping process.

Before commencing the backup process, you can modify a few settings to change how some things are managed: for instance, you can encrypt your backup with a password, as well as specify a split size, if you wish for the program to create multiple smaller archives instead of a single, bigger one. Do note that split archives cannot be used for differential backups.

Users can set a compression level for their backup archive before proceeding with everything. If you're working with storage constraints, this option gives you the ability to reduce the size of your backups.

What's more, you can choose to include or exclude certain files from your source folder based on their creation date: this can be helpful for those who are concerned with backing up only a specific portion of their data.

BackupIZ is an accessible piece of software, able to make the backup process a little more straightforward for some users. It may not be the most elaborate program you'll come across, but it should do the job without any issues.
