CRW Repair

CRW Repair is a feather-light, portable and easy-to-use application designed to reconstruct corrupt RAW images with the .crw filetype, enabling you to save photos as new .crw files or convert them to .jpeg, a more popular format.

The entire app's packed in a single .exe file that you can copy to a preferred location on the disk or to a USB flash drive, in order to directly run it on any machine with minimum effort and without having to install anything. It doesn't add new entries to the Windows registry, need DLLs to run, or create files on the HDD without approval.

It's wrapped in a clean and intuitive GUI, made from a basic window that shows all options put at your disposal. It has a simple design and layout, making it approachable even for users with no previous experience in such software.

After indicating a .crw photo using the file browser, CRW Repair starts the scanning and repairing operation automatically, showing the recovered image in the mainframe, in addition to statistics, such as found CCD data and JPEG thumbnail, camera make and model, white balance, height, and width, or old file size.

The reconstructed photo can be saved as .crw or converted to .jpeg by specifying the output directory and filename. Afterward, you can open the files in your graphics viewer to examine results.

It didn't put a strain on computer performance in our tests, using low CPU and RAM. It repaired images swiftly and didn't hang, crash or indicate errors.

On the other hand, it doesn't support batch processing, so it's not capable of repairing multiple .crw files at the same time. We must also keep in mind that it hasn't received updates for a long time. Nevertheless, CRW Repair worked well in our case, so you can test it for yourself since it's freeware.
