Offset is a tiny, open-source tool that specializes in creating full image volume backups so that you don’t have to worry about recovering your data in case of crashes, malware or accidental deletion. Unlike regular backup, the image or volume backups also include the operating system and settings, so everything is restored with full functionality.

The app is portable, so simply decompress and run the executable to get started. In case you encounter an error message about missing various DLL files, then the fix would be to use the Microsoft Visual C++ distribution provided within the archive.

The tool comes with a minimalistic and user-friendly interface that displays some details about your current volumes along with the existing shadow copies. All you need to do to create a volume backup is select the drives to be included and specify the destination folder before hitting the Start button. As far as compatibility goes, the program works with both MBR and GPT partitions, with the specification that volumes that exceed 2TB are saved as VHDX with GPT. The developer mentions that the tool also works with VHD, D-VHD, F-VHD, D-VHDX and RAW.
