Whether it is due to accidental deletion, a virus infection or a hard disk failure, losing data might happen. Data recovery software is there to allow the quick retrieval of lost or erased data from all kinds of drives, managing to avoid some of the frustration of seeing important files gone.
Specifically designed to recover data from UNIX-based drives, RS Linux Recovery can try to retrieve data located on Zfs, Ext4, BtrFS, ReiserFS, XFS or UFS file systems. In other words, with a bit of help from this application running on Windows, you can easily access lost or accidentally deleted data on Linux, Unix, FreeBSD, OpenBSD or Solaris drives.
While the recovery job it performs might seem complicated, working with RS Linux Recovery is actually extremely intuitive, especially since there is a built-in wizard that accompanies you step-by-step throughout the entire process of recovering your data. With just a few clicks, you can use RS Linux Recovery to restore data from corrupted, formatted or deleted Linux partitions.
The first step of the wizard requires you to select the drive to analyze. Once you do so, you can move on to choosing the type of analysis to conduct in order to determine a drive’s structure and reveal all the stored files.
At this point, there are two options available: a fast scan or a full analysis. Needless to say, the fast scan takes less time to complete than the full scan but, on the other hand, searching for any available information thoroughly might provide better search results. It is worth mentioning that RS Linux Recovery features content-aware analysis, meaning it can also search file contents.
All the found data is displayed in the main window of RS Linux Recovery, while preserving the original folder structure. The lost and found files are located in a separate directory created on the analyzed drive.
Thanks to the integrated HEX editor, you can analyze a file’s structure and make sure you want to add it to the recovery list. Data that needs recovering can be either saved to the local hard disk, placed inside a ZIP archive or uploaded directly to an FTP drive.
RS Linux Recovery comes in handy to anyone who works with multiple operating systems. It allows the quick reocvery of lost or deleted files from a Linux-like partition to a Windows computer, supporting all kinds of files, from documents and database files to multimedia content.
