It’s always a good idea to have an extra copy lying around, regardless of the info or data type you’re working with. If performed on a computer, this operation is done through a backup task, which simply means copying content from one place to the other. UBT, or Universal Backup Tool is the program you need for intuitive, efficient backup operations.

You’re taken directly to the configuration tab as soon as you launch the application, at least for the first time, to define backup parameters. Here, you need to specify a location, which is best a different drive than the source and can even be a removable storage device. You can choose to include hidden and system files, exclude Recycle Bin and set up file filters.

When the initial configuration is done, you can go ahead and select the source of the backup. This can range from a single folder to an entire drive, given there’s enough free space on the target drive. Adding items is done through the browse dialog. There’s a progress slider, as well as info fields for the file, processed, and speed.

Needless to say that backup operations are delivered to the specified path, to which you can see a slider displaying the amount of available space. There’s the possibility to set a maximum number of items to back up, while older ones get removed, with the possibility to also manually purge existing items.

A backup operation doesn’t really take a lot of time, but this only depends on the complexity of the source. It’s good to cease all other activities in the process. Restoring a set of data is easily performed. Sadly, there’s no built-in scheduler to have bits of data automatically backed up.

All things considered, we can state that UBT is the type of program you can use for complex and complete backup sessions, letting you set up file filters, and special attributes. It could have used a backup scheduler, but it’s sure to come in handy overall.
