A backup operation represents one of those essential tasks that each computer user should take into account. System crashes or malicious threats are just some examples of how you can lose important data without being able to recover it.

jaBuT gives you the possibility to choose between two different backup sessions, namely express or custom. The difference between them relies on the fact the custom profile empowers you to use some advanced parameters for completing the task, while the express one comprises basic settings.

When opting for a custom backup, you are allowed to pick the directory that you want to copy, and maintain the directory structure of the source folder or process the entire source folder instead of just the content.

What’s more, you can choose the destination folder, process all data from source directory or create lists with items that you want to include or exclude in/from the backup process, select the processing interval (e.g. manually or every few hours, once a day), enable the current profile when you run or close the program, and exclude some days of week.

The utility comes packed with several backup modes and you can choose the one that best fits your needs. You may opt for Simple Copy (incremental backup), which is the easiest and fastest way for copying source data into the target location without deleting the source files, or Exact Copy (differential backup) which helps you copy the source data to the destination and delete obsolete files which are no longer up-to-date.

Similar backup modes that fit into the same patterns as described above are the Move and Exact Move. You may also compress your files and folders with Compress or Exact Compress profiles, or synchronize the source and destination directory.

There are also several powerful functions which enable you to save versions of the deleted items in a custom folder, perform several file processing tasks (e.g. copy file attributes, do not process system or hidden files, ignore files which are older or newer than a certain date), adjust the compression level, run certain utilities before or after the backup task, and run profiles automatically when a removable media is detected.

Last but not least, you may group profiles into different categories, duplicate or delete profiles, perform search operations, run the tool as portable on any disk, make file comparison, send email notifications, as well as export the event logs to HTML or plain text file format.
