If you are into photorealistic rendering as a hobby, or your work interest leads you in that direction, choosing the rendering software is the next logical step. However, if you are here, you've already decided to use Chaos Corona as your go-to program, but there is a question of hardware still standing. 3D rendering is a demanding process, and if your rig can't take it, you'll be unable to conduct your tasks.

That is why Corona Benchmark was developed. This straightforward app simulates a rendering sequence in order to measure your machine’s capabilities. It won't directly say if there is compatibility or not, but it can output a series of results that indicate just that.

Corona Benchmark uses the BTR Scene, a military base with a BTR vehicle that executes a number of passes before concluding the run. The image will take most of the UI space, but there is a sidebar that keeps track of all gathered information.

For example, the Times section keeps track of all intervals needed for scene parsing, geometry, rendering, denoising, and the total amount of time these tasks take to complete. Regarding the Scene parameters, here you'll find out how well your rig handles primitives, geometry groups, light groups, and instances.

Ultimately, the attention is always caught by the overall performance. The section with the same name hosts the number of total passes rays and samples, along with the VFB refresh time and sample error status. Other than that, a final prompt containing the user's CPU model and characteristics paired with the total rendering time will pop up. One can copy the results to the clipboard and close the app afterward.

Corona Benchmark is a simple preemptive benchmark tool that can let you asses if your computer is capable of running the photorealistic renderer Chaos Corona. It cannot be used to determine anything else except that, so it can be considered a one-time sort of program.
