Find out whether your computer screen includes stuck, dead or other strange pixels using this lightweight and simple application. #Dead pixel #LCD test #Test pixel #Pixel #LCD #Test
Since the computer screen includes millions of pixels, sometimes it is very hard to see actual problems with the monitor. Then again, it is important to check that all are working well before investing in a new monitor. pixcheck is a simple and straightforward application that provides a convenient way to test whether you have dead or stuck pixels on the computer screen.
The tool is portable and hence, you can simply download and launch the executable to begin the test. The application does not have an interface per se, but rather the GUI is the testing window that you can navigate with various keys.
Although it is not obvious, pressing H brings forth the Help menu where you can preview all commands and key binds that you may need for performing the test. Checking for bad pixels can be done manually by pressing hotkeys to pass through the standard colors. As you probably hinted, the R key is for red, G for green and B for blue.
According to the developer, the application can detect three types of bad pixels, namely stuck, dead and strange items. The dead pixels are black dots that cannot be fixed, whereas the stuck ones can sometimes be fixed with special apps.
The strange pixels tend to show in specific situations and are visible on black screens or a single color. They are a hardware issue and, considering that they are unfixable, it is advisable to contact the manufacturer for a replacement.
It goes without saying that the test is done in full screen and there is nothing else on the computer screen than the testing window. Once you are done with checking, simply press the ESC key to exit.
Pixcheck is a lightweight and intuitive utility that provides a quick and efficient way to test your monitor for dead, stuck and strange pixels.
