Fazili ScreenAlert

Sometimes you have to leave the computer to do something else. Perhaps you’re rendering something or are waiting for a notification of some sort. Having a way for your computer to notify you through a sound cue when it’s done rendering, or when an event has occurred, would surely come in handy for a good chunk of users. I'm not talking about a 3-second notification pop-up accompanied by a sound cue just as short.

That is the premise behind Fazili ScreenAlert: you input a screenshot and the program will monitor your screen for a matching image. The screenshot can be anything you want: notification screenshots can work particularly well here. Once a match is found, a sound alert will be played, which can be as short or as long as you want.

As you may have guessed, the program can work in many cases. Take a screenshot of the element you wish the program to monitor, and it’ll notify you upon detecting a match. You can get as creative as you like: screenshotting the progress bar for a rendering task, an antivirus scan, an app’s notification, or anything else you can think of.

Though the Premium version offers functions beyond just a sound cue, such as executing a certain file, HTTP request, or terminal command, I still think that the Free tier is capable enough for a simple system notifier app. It’s interesting to see that the program veers into automation territory with the Premium tier, however.

The default sound cue is fine as it is, but you can select anything you want — even an entire song if that’s your thing.

You will then be able to start the monitoring, after which you can leave the computer to do whatever it is you wanted to do, without fearing that you’ll miss out on the event you wish to monitor. Hopefully you hear the sound alert once the app detects a match for your screenshot.

Fazili ScreenAlert is for sure an interesting program. At its core, it’s a very simple, but effective concept that worked well during my testing.
