Move, copy, or rename a bunch of files by setting up different parameters and rules or simply selecting one of the rich preset options #File renamer #Copy file #File mover #Renamer #Rename #Mover
File operations without editing content means copying, moving, renaming, and more. These don’t require a lot of effort, but if you want to process a bunch of files, it can take some time. To help speed up the process, File Grinder gives you the possibility to rename, move, or copy multiple files with only a few mouse clicks.
One of the main advantages of the application is portability. On the one hand, it skips you the effort of going through a setup process. On the other hand, it can be easily carried around on a thumb drive to use on other computers. However, the target PC needs to be equipped with .NET Framework for everything to work.
As far as the visual design is concerned, the application manages to keep things simple, and in plain sight without making you feel overwhelmed. A large preview area shows all files you load with their original and new name, while the rest of the space is fitted with all kinds of controls and rules for processing.
Adding files can easily be done by dropping them over the main window, with the possibility to drop an entire folder for its content. Renaming is a key feature here, and you can choose to move, or copy files in the process.
The application comes with a decent range of renaming templates. Unless you already know renaming rules, you need to open up the dedicated editor to select the rules you want to use, or add your own. These include the original name in different states, counter, file size, date, substring, and more.
You can add custom characters to the name template, which comes in handy for including delimiters for rules. The counter can start from a custom value, at a specific step. Preview is generated in real time, and a confirmation window shows up before the operation is put in motion.
Bottom line is that organizing a large variety of files is an easy task when File Grinder is used. The intuitive design makes accommodation a walk in the park, while the built-in template editor helps you pick the right naming parameters.
