Split large files into multiple chunks either by specifying the value of a part, or the number of files you want to split to and merge them back together when needed in an effortless process. #Split files #File splitter #Merge files #Splitter #Split #Merge
Some time ago large files had to be split in order to fit on small storage devices. This is no longer a problem, but some services still come with limitations, such as email attachments to prevent your inbox from quickly filling up. In this regard, File Split Fairy helps you cut large files into multiple chunks.
On the bright side of things, the application skips you the effort of pressing a few “next” buttons to get it installed, and can be launched right after download. This means you can just as well store it on a thumb drive to carry around in case you need to use it on other computers besides your own. Moreover, system registry entries remain intact, so the target PC is not affected.
The application contains both components to split and merge, which means you need to have the application with you to also bundle all chunks back together, with no built-in option to create an automatic merger tool. Luckily, the process is efficient and fast, and portability helps a lot in this regard.
You need to rely on the built-in browse dialog to load the target file, because drag and drop is not supported. Any kind of file can be targeted. The original file size is shown in a dedicated panel, with two options to split.
On the one hand, you can choose to cut a file into multiple pieces based on a specific size, but you need to manually provide the value, with no preset options such as CDs or DVDs. What’s more, the upper limit here is of 700 MB. On the other hand, there’s the possibility to split to a custom number of parts, which means size is automatically determined. You also need to provide a save path for the file chunks.
Needless to say that all parts are required to be able to rebuild the original file. This process is easier, since you only need to load one of the parts and choose a save location. However, the file extension also needs to be written down, because the application doesn’t remember it.
All things considered, we can safely state that File Split Fairy is a lightweight, practical application you can use to cut large files into multiple chunks to bypass any size limitations on various services. You can easily carry it around, while the two split methods are sure to make it worth your while.
