It’s important to know where your frequently used files and folders are, especially if they’re used inside projects. Sure enough, you can keep them in folders on the desktop, but this space can quickly become crowded. Luckily, you benefit from a variety of specialized applications like FileMan which help put focus only on important work items.

A first step is to go through the setup process in order to ensure the application’s proper functionality. Note, however, that the target computer also needs to be equipped with .NET Framework. On the bright side of things, you’re offered to have the program launched right after setup is done.

All the application has to offer can be found in quite a straightforward interface. Most of the space is where all projects and items are displayed in a tree list, while the file menu provides quick access to some editing options. Some of them can also be accessed through the context menu, which makes it easier to create items in existing projects.

Major groups are identified as projects. Each item, regardless of time, can be fitted with a custom name. Projects, files, and folders come with different icons for an easy identification of type. Note that folders are not linked to those on your computer, but rather represent an efficient way of organizing files and items inside projects.

Files can be of any type when created. You have the liberty of opening them with the default associated application, but this isn’t done through a double-click operation. Unfortunately, items can’t be moved across different projects and folders, so you need to delete them and create new items in appropriate groups.

Bottom line is that productivity is rather enhanced when all important work files are easy to find. This is what FileMan intends to help you with, but it only does so in a straightforward manner. There’s no option to explore the file source folder, or link directories to easily add more items.
