Freddy and Betty

Freddy and Betty is an application designed to split large files into smaller parts as well as to put the pieces back together. This way, you can transfer files on external devices with low storage capacity. It features straightforward options that can be easily figured out.

Provided that you have .NET Framework installed on your computer, you don't need to set up anything else. Freddy and Betty isn't wrapped in a setup kit, so you can copy the executable file anywhere on the PC to launch it.

If you encounter any errors, relaunch the tool with administrative privileges. At startup, you can select between the cutting ("Chainsaw Freddy") and merging operation ("Bandage Betty").

When it comes to the splitting job, all you have to do is specify the large file you want to cut, the saving directory for the new files, along with the size. It's possible to automatically trim the parts to fit them on floppy disks, CDs, DVDs or as email attachments, or to set the new size of each file.

The smaller files receive the ZIP file extension and are automatically numbered. When you want to reconstruct the original large file, just indicate the first file part and output folder for placing the file. Make sure that the remaining file parts exist in the same directory.

We didn't have any trouble getting the tool to run on the newest Windows version in our tests. It carried out splitting and merging jobs fast and without any errors, even if the app hasn't been updated for a considerable amount of time.

All things considered, Freddy and Betty delivers a straightforward solution for helping you cut files into multiple parts and put them back together. Too bad that it doesn't have additional presets for cutting files for various purposes.
