HashOnClick

A computer knows if a file is fully functional or not through the hash value. However, anyone can use this values in order to determine the integrity and authenticity of files, but you need to have an application like HashOnClick installed, giving you the possibility to easily grab hash values from any file, and save it for later analysis.

After a short time spent in the installer, you’re free to check out the set of features. This can be don on absolutely any kind of file, since all of them are fitted with their own hash value. Don’t worry if there’s no shortcut on your desktop or any method of accessing the application, because it doesn’t actually come with an interface, because it integrates itself in the default context menu.

As such, finding out the hash value of a file needs to be done by right-clicking it, with a Calculate Hash Value menu that points to the process. When doing so, a compact window shows up with the code you just wanted to find out, as well as the file name, and options to save to file, or copy the code to clipboard.

HashOnClick gives you the possibility to calculate using three different algorithms, such as MD5, SHA-1, and CRC32. Unfortunately, the diversity of algorithms used to determine the value is a bit poor, but the application manages to compensate through batch processing.

In case you want to compare more files at a time, the process requires no great effort, but merely to select the ones you want to analyze. The same window shows up, and displays values and names on different rows, with the same options to copy, and save to TXT file.

All things considered, we can safely state that HashOnClick manages to live up to expectations and does what the name suggests quite literally. It cleverly integrates in the system context menu, thus reducing the effort to minimum. What’s more, you can analyze more files at the same time, and even save results to file.
