Intelligent Copier

Sorting out different types of files on your PC can take some time if done manually. However, there are various specialized tools like Intelligent Copier which can greatly ease the process. For instance, it quietly sits in the tray area unless brought up to serve as a drop area for different files to be automatically copied, or moved to corresponding locations.

The application goes directly to the tray area when launched, with no prompt to let you know it’s there. It’s a good idea to pay a visit to the options menu to set up general default settings, and where target files go.

With the defaults screen up you can set up multiple filters. There are several configurations, but adding one only requires you to specify the file mask to target, as well as the location they end up by simply selecting a folder through the browse dialog. Target files can either be copied or moved, with the possibility to skip older files, and whether or not to overwrite existing files.

Putting an operation in motion is as easy as dropping a selection of files over the small window showing up when interacting with the tray icon. There are two modes to the operation, one of which lets you take one last look over the target files, and where these end up. You can choose to copy instead of move, or the other way around.

You’re free to select files of different types, with the application automatically handling distribution according to preset rules. Sadly, you can’t configure a hotkey command to quickly bring up the drop zone, but you can force the application to run with windows so that it’s ready by the time you reach the desktop.

To sum it up, Intelligent Copier is a practical application you can keep around especially if you need to handle multiple types of files on a daily basis. It quietly sits in the tray area until you’re ready to either copy, or move various files. Folders need to be configured first, but this takes little time and effort.
